The Bernese Mountain dog or Berner Sennenhund is a large breed of dog originating from the swiss alps. Originally they where bred to work on Farms carrying out many general tasks such as guarding or herding. They have also been used to pull carts.
Despite there size they are very friendly dogs and sometimes noted for being quite docile and placid.
Average Height is 58 to 70 cms (23-28 inch) and they can weight as much as 120 lbs (over 8 stone).
It is recommended that a Bernese Mountain dog cage is 42 to 48 inches in size.
